I used to think midlife was the beginning of decline. Midlife didn’t bum me out particularly, and I was always hopeful that I would beat the curve and remain healthier than my mom and grandmother. But the decline was out there, it was dreaded, and it definitely began around midlife.

A series of free events to connect, have fun and reflect on midlife
So much is changing at midlife, and it’s so refreshing to focus on ourselves with the questions, the hardships, the excitement about what’s next, the insight into who we are, who we were, and who we want to be. But we don’t take the space to explore these themes, and we don’t take the space to talk to other people about it.
So I’m hosting events specifically for this purpose, and summer in La Conner is the perfect backdrop. Come be with other women and hang out as our midlife selves.
Plus we’ll eat and do a fun activity! Even better!
All events are FREE to attend

Jewelry Exchange and Midlife hang
A midlife theme for me is curating my stuff. I am loving letting go of things, and getting new things that represent more of who I’ve become and who I want to be. It’s refreshing and my world is becoming so much more comfortable as I surround myself with what is aligned.
Let’s do that with jewelry. We all have jewelry that we love, but never wear. And we all love the opportunity to find something we didn’t realize represents us, and then wear it proudly. Let’s exchange. You get something new and exciting (and free!) and you get to give new life to a piece of jewelry that you love and refresh another woman. It’s the best!
Plus some midlife talking points and a Girl Dinner potluck (*see below)!

End of Summer Garden party for my midlife sisters
I want to visit with you all and connect you to one another. It’s hard to find new friends and connections when we are so (over) committed to the other aspects of our life. Even if we have the friends and support we need, it’s refreshing to consider connections that are supportive for just this moment of life. This will be a party full of them.
As summer ends and we head into our Fall roles, back to the grind, let’s begin this new phase of 2024 with a new foundation, a reminder of what’s important, a touchpoint on what is on offer as we head into the next phase of life’s demands. Let’s remember our place in our life and that we can define that if we make space for that work. This party can be that reminder and the grounding required to go into Fall strong, with the strength we took from the sun and the fun as we enjoyed these summer days and vacation, and the clarity of what we want to create as we head back to work.
So you are cordially invited to my end of summer garden party (Ok, so I know that September is technically Fall, but we all know that by the time we transition from summer to fall, we still want more summer, and we need closure, so I’m calling September 14 end of summer, and the Farmer’s almanac says it will still be summer weather!).
The best conversations are had in the garden. It brings life out of us and makes everything feel lighter. I love my garden and the idea of infusing midlife energy thrills me (Aila: should I take this out as it’s about me?).
In my opinion there’s not enough parties, and certainly not enough garden parties. I hope you can make it to this one.

* What is a “Girl Dinner” Potluck?
My definition of Girl Dinner: Eating things that make sense even if they don’t seem like a “regular dinner”. I tend to err on the side of healthy, but anything is fair game in Girl Dinner world!
Serving size is irrelevant. If there are 3 bites of leftover lasagna, bring it. An entire bowl of noodle salad, bring it. Examples of my girl dinner components: cheese, crackers, yogurt, cut up fruits and veggies, bits of meat, nuts, any delicious homemade leftovers, chocolate, any amount of any side dish. Bring what makes sense and we can graze while we chat.
